Greetings to all!

Galatians 5:1ff

Great White North = Canada

I used to be in committed fellowship in Ottawa, Canada, in the early 90s. I used to live in the brother's house there. I was blessed with many friends there: Louis, Josh, Gerry, John, Mark, Ed, Chris, Eileen, Yvonne, etc. There were many dear married couples there: the Smiths, the Dinakrins, the Cossettes, etc. However, I left fellowship on good terms because I went to live overseas with my asian wife who also left the Assembly on good terms. It is a long, interesting story. :) I tried to keep in contact with many people and visited as many as I could when I returned to Canada to see my parents or study. Presently, my wife and I are rejoicing and still living overseas. Pray for us: we are trying to get pregnant! :)

I still love and care for those I fellowshiped with and think about them from time to time. I hope they are doing well. However, as many know, it is difficult to stay in contact with others once you leave due to our busy schedules, etc.

How is George's excommunication affecting the other Assemblies? What is going on in the Canadian Assemblies? Any news would be appreciated because I feel so out of the loop here in asia.

I hope that maybe even some of you will be online. Josh? You were selling computers a while back. Gerry, I know you liked computers! Paul... I know you love computers! Armand and Claude, computers are what you do! :)

Armand and Nancy, did you get that bag of Bibles (to put on the booktable) that I left on your front doorstep? Nobody was home so I had to leave them there. I was cleaning out my closets and found them.

I hope you are all doing well!

This week in Canada, we got our first major snowstorm of the season.
In our area between 10-15 centimeters fell.

It has also rained .

So my driveway, which is a inclined driveway.
IS VERY ICY.

especially on the sidewalk at the bottom of the driveway.

I am not a skier, or do I owe snowmobile.
Nor do I have snow shoes.

I dont even ice skate. I am very fearful of falling , trying being about 300 lbs, and fall it is not very pretty, or safe.

I love to walk, but my walking become very curtailed this time of year until about March/April. I only walk to were I have to. Frequently it is between a 20 to 30 minute hike. On sidewalks that have not been salted or sanded. Or there is no visible sidewalks at all. And the edges of the road are one icy uneven trail. Leaving only the middle of the street fighting traffic of any clear pavement.

So as you can see this Canadian all though can take the colder weather, I havent put on a full winterize coat yet. Although my boots have been used. I cannot take the ice.

I must admitted the day it snow I was at the Galilee Center for a Beef and mashed Potatoe Dinner at the CMHC Dew Drop Inn Center.
That area is beautiful with tall pines and natural forest landscape. The snow on the trees , the scenery was Beautiful.

Despite the weather, and the dread of most people of the coming of the snow, because of the hidden dangers in falling snow.

SNOW ON THE TREES WERE GOD'S HANDIWORK, TO ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF HIS CREATION.

Any one else want to share their first snow day, experience.

We had our first snowfall on November 23, the afternoon before Thanksgiving.

We were allowed to leave early on our first day of snow. It took me twice as long (1 1/2 hours) to get home than it normally does, and this was taking the expressways.

I have a very negative attitude towards winter. Don't much see it's purpose, even tho it has a spiritual picture.

My motto is: Move South. It gets better the farther south you go. Some day I'll get there. ;D

Lenore, Be careful it sounds like a dangerous driveway. No snow here, just rain. Overall Lenore it sounds like your really doing good. Arnprior seems like a beautiful place. I've only been to Vancouver B.C. in the fall, not a whole lot of snow then, but I remember it being really cold. God Bless Summer.

There is a freezing rain warning.
The rain has started to fall about noon hour.
As soon as the rain hits the below 0 C. it freezes on contact.
Then it is suppose to turn to snow after, which snow on top of ice is going to make travelling dangerous for both walkers and drivers.

Even the buses were cancelled this morning and schools were already sending kids home early. In anticipation if this predicted ICE STORM.

TOMORROW GETTING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY , I MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE A PIECE OF CARDBOARD AND SLIDE DOWN. SAVE ME THE TROUBLE OF FALLING, IF I DO IT VOLUNTERIAL.

KEEP SAFE EVERONE

Lenore,

Back in the 1960's I lived in the Upper Penensula of Michigan.

How well I remember shuffling around in a hunched over position, knees bent, arms out in front, head forward....looking for all the world like a defensive back doing directional drills in football practice....trying not to end up flat on my back with my feet sticking up in the air as I "walked" to work on icy roads and sidewalks.

Yesterday my wife, Caryl, took my daughter Grace and our grandson up to Mount Baldy to play in the snow. Here in California we know how to make snow behave! It must stay in the mountains where it belongs.

We won't allow it to mess up our roads down here where we live.

This weekend the forecast is for temperatures in the mid to high 70's. That is in real degrees, not the fake Celsius kind.
;)

God bless and be careful,

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/americas/12/09/canada.gay.ap/index.html

TORONTO, Ontario (AP) -- In a landmark opinion, Canada's Supreme Court said Thursday that proposed legislation allowing gay marriage is constitutional, but the government cannot force religious officials to perform unions against their beliefs.

--------------------

I think the protection for religions is temporary because the court said there are no precedent cases to use. What do you bet lawyers are lining up to test the religious right to refuse to perform gay marriages as discriminatory toward gays.

Now it is back to the House of Commons and it looks like there is more support for Gay Marriage.

This is historic in proportions and a sad day for Canada. One good thing though is that the Court refused to rule on whether the traditional definition of marriage is Consititutional. It is the politicians who must rule they said. Now they can't hide behind the court they must stand up and be counted.

Please pray.

:)December 12

Winter has settled in for the long haul.
In side 10 days we have snow storms, ice pelts, freezing rain.

On Friday, it snowed in this area about 18 cm of snow.
2.5 cm to 1 inch of snow.

Before I came up stairs it was snowing again.

Yesterday, I called a friend of mine. Her home is a place where her three teenagers & their friends hang out.
I called and asked how many teenagers does she have in her house and could she spare a few to shovel me out. Three 15 year old teenage boys shovel out my driveway.
The drifts are already very high.

It has been snowing on and off all day today. Just enough to say it is snowing.

It is supposed to be mild tomorrow.

Streets around here are terrible, cut backs on the plowing around the streets are quite evident.

Walking is icy obstacle course, whether to decide if it is safer fighting the traffic than the ice on the sidewalks.

I live in a country where ice and snow is a normal winter, but I am not a winter person. The snow is beautiful when it is falling, but I do not like the ice.
I do not skate, although I live an hour away from the longest skating rink in the world.

Give me a pool to swim before I volunteer to go out on the ice on purpose. The last time I had a pair of skates on was when I was 10 years old.

When I lived in Ottawa when Christie was small, I went on Dow's Lake during a Winter Lude Ice Sculpture.
I have pictures of them. I walked on the ice, even when I was 25 years old I hate being on ice. At least I had a stroller to hang on too.

Christie went on the dog sled ride around. A friend of mine had a daughter about 18 months younger. SHe was waiting for Christie to come back, she had her mitten taken by one of the huskies, the child was only hanging on to the fence, but the dog grabbed the mitten right off her hand. THe child wasnt injured, but was frightened.

I like to go on horse and sleigh rides though. Hearing the jingling of the sleigh bells. Clip Clop of the horses hooves. It is a peaceful was to ride, even if there are half a dozen noisy kids on the wagon/sleigh.

Talk to you later

Columbus, Ohio built a terrific new arena to bring the Blue Jackets to life a few short years ago. The "Arena District," consisting of upscale restaurants, nightclubs, shops and apartments quickly sprang up around it. That whole section of downtown Columbus is like a ghost town this season-- the merchants are trying everything to survive. I'm not a huge hockey fan, and even less a fan of greed. I do hate to see what this season has done to the economy of hockey-dependent businesses & the families they represent, as well as to the sport itself...

Here is an update.

If you are concerned about giving same-sex unions full equal standing and rights along with the name Marriage please read this. We need prayer from you now. Similar to the arguement about conducting a war on terrorism away from the US it is this war against traditional moral values that rages in Canada and that will soon be upon you in a greater way if these changes to our way of life are instituted. Think of it as a Prayer Defence Shield. The reason for the urgency is because the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader are making sweeping statements which very well could be ended with Canada making changes to the Consititution about this issue.

The Conservative Opposition leader is defending the traditional definition of marriage as "One man and one woman".

Cdn. Catholic archbishop denounces same-sex bill
CTV.ca News Staff

For the second time in a week, a Catholic archbishop has written an open letter to the Prime Minister Paul Martin protesting the Liberal government's plans to legalize same-sex marriages.

Marc Ouellet, the archbishop of Quebec and primate of Canada's Catholic church, warns Martin that this legislation "threatens to unleash nothing less than cultural upheaval".

"At the risk of being judged politically correct, we need to recall that the bill under discussion is offensive to the moral and religious sensibility of a great number of citizens, both Catholic and non-Catholic," Ouellet writes in the letter released Friday, the Toronto Star reported.

"We therefore find ourselves at a turning point in the evolution of Canadian society, and the bill announced by the government threatens to unleash nothing less than a cultural upheaval whose negative consequences are still impossible to predict."

Toronto's Catholic archbishop, Aloysius Ambrozic also wrote an open letter to Martin earlier this week, urging him to delay the legislation that is expected this spring, and to maintain the traditional definition of marriage.

But Justice Minister Irwin Cotler dismissed Ambrozic's call for a delay.

"Rights are rights are rights," Cotler told The Globe and Mail in response to Ambrozic's request.

"If we've got 12 prohibited grounds of discrimination under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, we can't just cherry pick and say, 'Okay, 11 of those which deal with discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, national and ethnic origin, gender and the like, they're okay. But when it comes to sexual orientation, well, we're not going to respect that one.'"

The open letter came amid a same-sex debate that crossed continents.

From China on Friday, Martin said he is willing to call an election over same-sex rights after Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper said this legislation would lead to the legalization of polygamy.

"I just cannot conceive how anybody can say that and not understand just how ridiculous that he must look," Martin told reporters in Beijing, adding that the laws against polygamy will not change.

"As far as I'm concerned it will always be against the law."

Same sex marriage, should we debate this here? The state in Canada says the

I hope you are paying attention to this. You may think that this is unimportant but this is the tip of the iceberg. The Church has started to meddle in SECULAR/HUMANISTIC areas. Now we see the beginning of a persecution on the basis of beliefs in NORTH AMERICA. While pretending to defend freedom of religion and freedom of speech they are defining what where and when we can speak and exercise our faith.

This is it everyone the beginning of an era of great persecution of those who dare to stand for what the Bible teaches. We can talk about the lack of religous freedom in China but look at this it is happening before our eyes. We are losing our religious freedoms right now, right here in NORTH AMERICA.

Please pray we need the Lord to help us. What to pray I don't even know just bring it before the Lord and say it is in your hands Lord help us see the way you want us to go.

I sense that believers are afraid of this issue because the media and special interest groups have painted everyone who disagrees with them as INTOLERANT or BIGGOTED. To argue about biblical reasons I believe is good for us as believers to understand but the world does not see the Bible as a legitimate source for information regarding its morals and values. Remember we are to love the sinner and hate the sin.

Again the answer lies in prayer.

Hugh
The esteemed governor of Illinois just signed into law a provision forbidding descrimination on the basis of sexual orientation...etc, etc etc.
How long do you think it will be before these conspirators launch their first lawsuit at some local church? Get ready...!
Pray for the leadership of God's gatherings everywhere.
You should have heard Erwin Lutzer speak on this matter at Moody Church.
He literally got a standing ovation after the message.
Too many men of God have already compromised on this issue.
But that is the nature of the world today is it not? Compromise....
Verne
p.s please pray for Dr. James Dobson. Those interested in advancing a godless homosexual agenda are viciously attacking him for alerting parents to their shenanigans. Make no mistake about it. They want the hearts and minds of our children.
Better yet, send Dr. Dobson a letter of support and let him know that you are standing with him. Get off your half-moons...!

Hugh,

I honestly haven't known what to add to this thread. I just copied your last three posts to several saints who I know will pray and will pass the news along to others.

None of us can afford to disregard these events or to take them lightly. We must pray, and we must speak to others about them.

-----------------------------------------------------

Dear Friend,

For the last 2 months we have been researching the many different "solutions" to strike down the Same-sex marriage law that Prime Minister Martin wants to railroad through parliament. We have finally found what we believe to be the most effective plan - "Convince the politicians that they will lose their job if they vote against the will of the majority". As simple as this sounds, in reality it is very complicated to do effectively on a national level.

We have a plan that will work!

Undoubtedly you've heard our politicians and the media talk about how the majority of Canadians support same-sex marriage and that it is the “right thing to do.” Our Prime Minister has even threatened that he will call an election on the issue.

The fact is the Government, media and gay advocacy groups want Canadians to think that those who support the definition of “one man and one woman” are a minority in this country.

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, THEY ARE RUNNING A "CAMPAIGN OF MISINFORMATION."

We need to work together to counteract their efforts. This is how we are going to begin to do it...

There has been a survey completed that the media refuses to acknowledge. Why? Because it clearly shows that 60% of Canadians are opposed to Same-sex marriage!

Shortly after the Supreme Court issued its advice to the Government on the same-sex marriage issue, Canadians were asked in a poll: “Do you support/oppose keeping the definition of marriage as a union of one man and one woman?”

The survey was commissioned by Enshriine Marriage Canada and conducted by the Nordic Research Group. It found that 59.8 per cent of Canadians support keeping the traditional definition of marriage. The survey interviewed 1023 Canadians by telephone from December 11-16, 2004 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 per cent.

The Government does not want Canadians to know this poll exists.

If word about this survey gets out to the general public it will be very bad news for those that are hoping to railroad this socially disastrous piece of legislation through parliament.

SO, LET’S GET THE WORD OUT!

We need you to do two things:

1) FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO YOUR ENTIRE ADDRESS BOOK so they can see what the real numbers are and we can begin to put an end to the misinformation campaign.

- PLEASE, DO IT NOW – We need a loud unified voice!

2) IN JUST "1-CLICK" SEND OFF YOUR OWN LETTER TO (your MP, your MLA/MPP, the Prime Minister, your Premier, your Attorney General, the Opposition leaders, the Justice Minister, Newspapers and any other contact you would like to add), TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT THE REAL NUMBERS ARE and that they will be committing political suicide if they vote for Same-sex marriage http://www.1clicklobbyist.ca/index.php?affid=216!

(All it takes is 5 minutes to make a difference!)

We are sending this email out to our 40,000 supporters and if each of them, on average, send it out to at least 20 people in their address book then this message would get out to 800,000 people. If 10% of those people sent it out to another 20 people it would get out to another 1.6 million people. (These numbers aren't unrealistic - last year we sent out over 4.5 million personalized emails from people receiving forwarded emails and clicking to send letters.)

Do you think Mr. Martin and his social scientists would get a clear message with that many Canadians "knowing the facts?"

Thank you so much for your support - our future is counting on you!

In order to keep up our momentum we need your financial support as well. If you are able to contribute $20, $40, $60 or more to protecting the family, please click here http://www.unitedmothers.ca/donate.php

Another common misrepresentation is the percentage of the general population homosexual activists claim. I hear even seasoned and intelligent newsmen blithely repeating the fallacious ten per cent figure.
You are certainly right. Misinformation is the name of the game. Sadly, it appears to be working quite effectively. They will ultimately win the statutory fight both in Canada and in the U.S. Merely a sign of the times...

February 1st

Good Morning everyone.

This morning when I woke up, and was sitting there I was thinking. Last night during our ALpha Discussion on Stop WOrrying and Start Living Topic. The subject on the same sex marriage bill came up briefly, how we questioned where is the masses in protesting this, how CHristian are comfortable to send petitions instead of standing up and be counted.

I started writing and the words kept flowing. I am sharing with you, unedited. I hope there room. Feedback is welcome .

I was thinking of last night discussion, when the same sex marriage bill came up.

Romans 1 verse 18 to 32 came to mind.

I then thought of how it was in the days of Noah, and Sodom/Gomorhha
How it was so bad that God destroyed, for by water, then by fire. How was it in the days leading up to the destruction. How did it get so bad?
We the people like people of Western World so accepting of the rights of others to live their lives as they pleased, to pollution the very nature of society, invading every aspect of life, that only a few were unpolluted.
Even Lot was not exactly unpolluted by it. He offered his daughters to save the messengers of God. His wife couldn't turn her back on the way of life that she was used to.
Question is didn't anyone try to stop the progression of wickedness in the gay life style in those days.

Come to modern days terminology.
Did the gays petition the courts for the right to marriage. Was there demonstration on the people of the land to stop it.
Once the bill was pass, they just threw up their hands, says it must be the will of God.
God allows this. But a bill like this that changes his Word on the matter is never God's will.
In the old testament which is read by Jews, Muslims and Christians alike (at least should be read). The punishment for such an act is quite obvious. When the people didn't or couldn't stop the decline of moral values in God's natural order, God punished them.
Punished them quite severely. As far as I know God hasn't punished his people for this type of crime against God since Lot. Yet Paul wrote about it to the Romans. I gather the Roman empire indulged in the gay lifestyle until it became acceptable in society. A life style the Romans became eager to protect.

Look at today society, the gay lifestyle is in every aspect of society, being flaunted in our faces every where we look. In magazines, on television, in movies, and in law makers of countries. Being promoted as normal. Any one who doesn't accept their way of life is considered intolerant. Yet do they tolerate the ones who are trying to live a life that we believe in. A life that God wants us to live. No. We are to accept their choices, but do they really accept our choices. Because if they do, they wouldn't be trying so hard to shove their life style down our noses, rubbing it in, making us accept it.
Maybe Christians here are at fault here to. After all the Christian history has done a lot to taint God's message throughout the ages, that the trust in the Christian life is minimal, only a few really accept it. Why do so called Christian churches ignore Biblical truths to God's word in light of gay lifestyle? Why are certain Christian mainline churches promoting the gay lifestyle to the point where that lifestyle is at the teaching and leading end of the church. No wonder people who go to these churches, thinking they are Christian because they go to church, and if the leader of the church is saying it is okay, then it must be so.

Even in the strong churches that are evanglistic in beliefs and practices, where is the courage to stand up and be counted, willing to accept the price of society consequences to proclaim God's word. To be label intolerant, to be labelled a fanatic, to be labelled a disciple of Jesus and what Jesus is all about.
I think western Christians especially conservative types of churches, we have been taught not to rock the boat. We prayer, we sign petitions, all in the comfort of our pews.
What is the main reason? Fear.

We admire the servants of God in the past for their ability to stand in faith, despite the consequences of what society will throw their way, totally depending on God for their very lifes. Where are the hero for God today? Billy Graham! He ailing and Lord will be calling him home soon. Who is coming up behind him to rally the masses in a life totally devoted to God? The heroes of today could be the ones who go into the war torn countries of Africa and give aid to the women who are being tortured and abused on a daily basis, or giving a face to the protest of the being forced to accept the changes in God laws, giving the rights to for acceptance of the gay life style.

It is something I was thinking about, and the words kept pouring out of my hands.
What can I do? There is so little I can do as one person. Pray! Yes! But should there be action behind that Prayer!
Maybe I should be asking okay God ! What do you want me to do?
Then be willing to do it!
Then fear comes in to play, and say don't make it too difficult. So the question is am I really willing to ask God what do you really want me to do.

A very heartfelt and poignant article, Lenore, and you sum up the crux of the matter in closing:

What can I do? There is so little I can do as one person. Pray! Yes! But should there be action behind that Prayer!
Maybe I should be asking okay God ! What do you want me to do?
Then be willing to do it!
Then fear comes in to play, and say don't make it too difficult. So the question is am I really willing to ask God what do you really want me to do.

The very first thing we should do is the very last thing many of us will turn to: Prayer.

We will take the position that I am saved, a new creature in Christ, therefore I can now think in heavenly ways, so my job here is to think of ways to serve the Lord.

We don't like to ask the Lord, "What do you want me to do?" because [1] we aren't sure how to look for or expect to know His answer, and [2] we are afraid we won't like His answer. It is much more comfortable to excuse ourselves from praying or to try to get by with minimal, nominal prayer, and to set our "God-given" minds to the task. In so doing, we employ the same mind of flesh and the same fleshly methods that we used as non-christians-- the same tools that everyone in the world uses.

Nothing is too hard for our Lord. He can teach us to pray, He can answer our prayers, He can instruct us in His Word, He can lead us, and He can enable us to follow. All we have to do is ask Him and let Him, and His grace to us is sufficient for even that.

I say these things as a student; certainly not as a master. If you do pray, please pray for me, that I will truly learn these things...

In Christ,
al

:DBeen thinking of the enclosed since last Thursday Night. Did any one see ER that night.

Thoughts on Same Sex Marriage
On Thursday February 10th episode of ER , Carrie Weaver found her birth mother, and the conversation came around family which Carrie present a picture of her child and lesbian partner who had died.
As Carrie birth mother was a Christian, Carrie at first was afraid of revealing the truth; the next scene was she was in the bathroom crying. When Carrie confessed, The Birth Mother immediately reached out to Carrie to pray. Carrie rejected the prayer. In a later scene Carrie went to see Her Birth Mother at her hotel room. It was Carrie again rejected her Mother because of her beliefs, and walked away from her birth mother the one at peace, while the birth mother was in tears.

There was a statement that got me thinking, Carrie said to her birth mother, that your religion is too narrow to accept my lifestyle. Her birth mother made a statement to Carrie, that Carrie chose that life style, which Carrie counter statement that it wasn't a choice, but she was made that way.

Religion being too narrow to accept the gay lifestyle. Carrie may have feel she was born that way, but it is still her choice to participate active gay lifestyle.
Is religion too narrow.
One time religion rejected divorced people from leaderships within the church, a certain religion faiths still do. Divorced, single parents shouldn't teach children.
Yet in society there are children from divorced single parent families, that need to see example of the same in leadership, to give them hope that people can rise above their circumstance.
One time religion faiths didn't allow remarriage after divorced. Now even evanglistic faiths are remarrying divorced people, not even after the first divorced, but after a second, or even a third.
One time religion faiths rejected common law marriages, now because the law of the land granting the rights to common law marriages after a certain period of time, common law partnerships are accepted. Maybe even in certain churches, these people are in leadership, because it is a norm of society, where children are born into common law marriage, that it has become accepted as norm even in the church.
No wonder the gays are asking for equal acceptance.

Getting back to Carrie on ER, her choice or Genetic coding, that produced a lesbian lifestyle. Yet the writers of that show, seem to think that audience have no memory.
Carrie was involved in heterosexual outside of marriage relationship, not just once, in her history of the show. She even had two lesbian relationships. Yet she was at peace with her stand in rejecting the religion of her birth mother, and what the history of Carrie, the religion of her adopted family had, and Carrie was brought up in. She r ejected not the religion, not her birth mother, but God who created her. She is rejecting the God who wrote the Bible, God guidelines, and laws for those who are willing to accept and follow the teachings of Jesus. Why should Carrie have the peace in rejecting that?
Carrie was able to put down the religion of her birth mother, yet she demanded the respect from her birth mother for the belief Carrie believed in.
It is almost like the gay lifestyle is a religion of its own.

I had questions for myself. Is my religion too narrow to accept Carrie.
No the Bible clearly says we are to love one another, and to show that love to the lost world.
To accept Carrie, doesn't mean we accept the lifestyle she is living in, whether by choice, or by genetics.
I believe in the most part, gay lifestyle is a choice, not genetics. It is a choice to participate in it, like it is a choice to participate in heterosexual sexual relationship outside the marriage realm. It is a choice to gossip, it is a choice to become violently angry, it is a choice to steal, it is a choice to murder. All sin that is committed against God is a choice. It is the act of those choices that we cannot accept. The person who committed those acts are to be accepted as a lost sheep. We may not want to get too close to be polluted by those choices if we have a weakness in those areas ourselves. But how can we win those people over if we don't show God's love by our own examples.

:)February 25.
A Canadian Senator Mac Harb is bring a private members bill into paraliment, for consideration on decriminalizing prostitution. I wrote out this letter and sent it to my own government representative. Just sharing with you my own thoughts and feelings on this matter,
....................................................................................................................................

February 25, 2005

Read in the Ottawa Citizen, Thursday February 24th edition.
Senator Mac Harb , wanting to decriminalize prostitution.

Recently, I received an email, with a location of a web site, that was on a news report, on how women in Germany, where prostitution has been legalized, are being forced to take jobs in prostituting themselves or else they will lose their welfare support.

Senator Harb, stated in his reasoning on decriminalizing prostitutes is to protect these women. Are you going to stop the predators who keep this business running?
What are your guidelines?

Are you going to raise the age of consent to have sex, to at least the drinking age? So there will not be children who are selling themselves in order to survive? So will the predators of these children be held severely accountable?
I watched the Oprah show, where Ricky Martin, was guest ,after the aftermath of ocean earthquake and tidal wave in Asia. He was telling how men will pay $10,000 to have sex with a 6 month old baby. What about in those other countries, families are sending their children as young as 5 years old into the sex trade, in order to support the family.
I think it is time that Canada set the example to protect women and children from ever enter the sex trade to being with. I don't believe the answer is legalizing that trade.
I believe, it is by somehow, targeting the people, who make a market for this business.
There are actually men who think that they should have the legal right to have sex with children, no matter what age. That children and women are property, or tools to be used for them to control and use.

Everyone is getting their rights based on equal rights, equal rights for all. Fine, but where will it stop. Do you think that men and predators should have equal rights to pay for sex, or have the consent to have sex with children?
Children as of the age of 14 can legally have sex, with anyone of any age, unless that person is in a position of authority. Because the age of consent, the school provides these teens the necessary tools to participate in sex, even with out the knowledge or permission of their parents.
So is your bill, Mr. Senator Harb, going to change the age of consent, to a adult age, and the age of the partner be no more than 5 years old. Florida in the States has that law, where age of consent is 16 years and the consenting partner can be no more 5 or 6 years older.
Canada needs to protect women against the hazards of the sex trade. It is time you started protecting the children first.
Parents are legally responsible for children until 18, especially if something go wrong, but children have so much rights from age of 14 up, that almost supersede parental rights.
It is time that rights of parents if a child lives under the roof, and parents are supporting those children, and if that child is in school. Then parental rights should be a backbone to parental responsibility, and the laws should be able to back up the parents efforts to enforce the rules of the home. Then maybe predators will not be able to exercise their influences over these children in light of the sex trades.

I hope any government representative will be asking a lot of hard questions, before even considering passing this bill. To make sure that women and children of the sex trade is protected and not just make it easier for predators to force them into it.
Also to make sure that there are guidelines there that forces no one into the sex trade against their conscience in order to receive government support.
And the punishment of those predators and people who force women, and children into the sex trade, and those people who make the sex trade necessary, be at such, and enforced to fullest and severest deterrent that it equals to first degree murder charges.

In a magazine called "Canada World View Issue 6", "Saluting 100 years of International Achievements [1900-2000].
On page 12.
Year 1947, Jan 13th.
"St. Laurent outline a new postwar foreign policy based on The Principles of National Unity, Political Liberty, The Rule of Law, CHRISTIAN VALUES, and ACCEPTANCE OF INTERNATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES."

With the Bills being presented in the house of commons, where our government representatives are considering and voting on, I am wondering if this past Prime Minster will be rolling over in his grave. Maybe the citizens of Canada needs protections against our policies makers as well!!

GREAT WHITE NORTH OF CANADA.
AT LEAST IN EASTERN ONTARIO ::)

TOWN OF ARNPRIOR WEST OF OTTAWA.

A town who celebrate the same centennial as the nation of Canada.

A town with two rivers the Ottawa and the Madawaska that intersects.

A town since the highway was extended from Ottawa with a four lane that reaches Arnprior now. A town that is growing in constructions of homes.
A town with problems, with store closures, and threats of closures with one of the major industries. An industry that can affect many families.
A town that boast of at least 16 churches. Many of them with aging and small congregations.

It is the end of February: In this Great White North. Snow is melting, but more is predicted for the next three days. It is great for the skiers and snowmobilers, and snow shoes.
But for the rest of us, who see the promise of spring creeping every so slowly.
I cant wait to get out of my boots, and winter coat, and walk on bare pavement again.

Well we got through Valentines Day, and Heritage Day. The local carnivals.
Now we face St. Patrick's Day. ANd it is a month to Easter.

Okay, I think the two cups of coffee I had a the church's after service fellowship is still kicking in. I have been home for about 3 hours. I spent most of that time on the computer.

Missy the dog is lying on my bed and sucking on my blanket. SHe rolls it into a soother and sucks on it. SHe has done that since she was a puppy. She is now 10 years old.
Percy on my little tv. looking out my bedroom window. Meowing at me. After repeatingly jumping into my arms. He get down when I put him on my shoulders and continue to type.

Greeting from the Great White North. This Canadian looking for some green under that snow. I must admit, I dont relish cutting grass anymore than I relish shovelling the snow. Oh well there is always some chore to do.

Bye from the Great White North. SNOW SNOW SNOW IT IS TIME TO GO.

TO THE EDITOR:

IN REFERENCE TO: CANADA VS THE USA

Missile Defense, Legalizing Pot, Same Sex Marriage, Decriminalizing Prostitution, Consensual Sex at the age of 14, Border that can be crossed easily, Mad Cow, Soft Wood Lumber, and our Water Supply. And of course, unforgiveable;winning the War of 1812. President George W. Bush or one of his representatives said that Canada isn't a sovereign nation, just shows that our Big Brother South of the 49th Parallel, isn't too happy when we disobey an "expectation".

Canada, USA, and Mexico are all part of North America, and it is really the only continent that isn't really broken up into many countries, like South America, Asia, Africa and even Europe. So I gather that a united North America would go along way, in the eyes of the Americans had at least Canada watching its back where World Affairs are concerned. Well so far, Canada is in one piece, but with the loom of some of the provinces like Quebec still singing separation, which can also be a threat to the Americans security. Which gets me wondering with the mood of the States right now, if any province that separate, or become isolated from the rest of Canada, really be a solo country for long. Maybe these provinces need to be asking themselves, would there be better of on their own, better off in an united Canada, or better off as 51st State of America. The possibility will be there, that a divided Canada, would the Americans be ready to absorb the country; then what would happen to Canada liberal laws and freedoms.

In a lot of ways President Bush is trying to hold on to the values that build the United States, and the law makers of Canada, is doing the opposite, is almost like having salt being rubbed into the wounds that the Americans are trying to heal. I think our country's law makers and political representatives need to be asking themselves, what is really good for the country. Not just the ones who yell the loudest, Not the ones who can rally the largest masses, Not the ones who have the most money. But for all, every single resident of this country. Are you thinking of the individual, or are you thinking of who could please today. Is it really the good of people, or is it good for the one who is making the laws. In a lot of ways, I don't think these laws are for majority of people, only a selective few.

Putting myself in the Americans shoes for a few moments. I am trying to teach my family right from wrong. Moral rights from wrongs. I am trying to teach them Biblical standards of life. Yet I don't have to put my self in American shoes, I am a Canadian with the same responsibilities, say no to drugs, that marriage is between a man and woman, that the sex trade is men degrading women for their own gratification, yet do my political representatives who are making the laws for this land, helping me instill these standards. No they aren't are they. They are teaching our youth of today, it is alright, because I am protecting your Charter of Rights freedoms. What is wrong with this picture?
I am not talking about intolerance. I believe a person should judge another person on face value. Take them as you get them. Then you make the decision whether the other person is worthy of your friendship or not. Just because I can't get along with one person, doesn't mean that you can't get along with that person. It is values we are teaching our youth of today that certain things are right when in all aspects they are not alright.
The mode of today, if it feels right, then it must be right, is a wrong message. It is a selfish message. It is also a message that your rights may infringe upon my rights and freedoms of beliefs.

I keep wondering what is the difference between Canada and the States. One time Canada was called strait laced, prude, too English; and the States was called a dark evil country. I think so anymore. Canada has decline in morals values, while the States have made attempts to reserve theirs. What is the difference? I believe the difference is …
The United States of America has a President that PRAYES, while Canada Prime Minister does not and is ignoring his own religious beliefs and upbringing. Even our previous PM showed himself to turn his back on Prayer after 911 tragedy.
Which country and its leader prayed and lead his country in prayer? I give you a hint
IT WAS NOT CANADA.

Maybe Canada should be asking why is Americans so threatened by Canadians. I think we as a country need to be looking really deep inside our ownselves, right from our policy makers down to the individual.

Just expressing my thoughts on this matter.

Nicky's Sermon:
++++++++++++

Important ask the right question:
CAN A NATION BE CHANGED
CAN CANADA BE RE EVANGLIZED.

WHAT JESUS ASKS US TO DO?
How to do it?

Luke 5: 1-11

This passage is a Picture of Evangelism, It is a active parable.
Picture of the fish represented the people that can be caught for Christ.
Peter caught a vision what God can do in his life. Fulfilled on the day of Penecost.

1/3 of the world population professes to be Christian.
Luke 5:5 the Potential is vast.
Millions of people who don't know Jesus; Who have a spiritual hunger?
There is a spiritual vacuum, and because of that vacuum people turn to false religion, The hollowed mind are easily cultivated.

Problem: churches have given up on evanglism, because they are cleaning their nets - lovely clean churches - But Jesus says to cast out our nets in the deep - churches need to respond - but don't want to respond because they don't want to get their nets dirty -don't want to pollute the building of the church with undesirable - don't want to get dirty.
Nothing is impossible with Jesus
Jesus made what seem impossible possible.

The fishermen have been out all night.
When they cast out their nets:

The nets(structures) had to be stretch - their were too many fish in nets, and the boat was sinking.

People coming to Jesus - their will be a need to change the structure.
But change is resisted.

We have to change the structure. If we want to bring in the young people.
There needs to be a bridge - need a little bit of something different.

Who is going to speak for the one who don't go to church.
- need to speak out, need to think about what non churched going to like -
- there is a spiritual hunger to meet, to provide for, that takes change.

Individual churches cant do it alone. Any part of the church can not do it alone. We need one another in different faith- we have to work with one another.

Before the 1900 there were no denominations, By the 21st century there were 30,000 denominations.
-division in all different parts of the church, is NOT GOING TO REACH SOCIETY.
Look at things that divide the church - is irrevelant to young people of today.

The battle today, is the same battle of the 1st century. Battle is about Jesus, a UNIVERAL SAVIOUR AND KING.

Holy Spirit is lowering the number of denominations today.

If we are fighting with each other, the young people are not interested.

We were are working together in unity, people will take notice.
Jesus prayer that we might be one - so the world might know Him.

All got to work together 1 Cor 12, WE ARE ALL OF THE BODY OF CHRIST.

We need to not to look at what divides us, but we need to say, what we can learn from each other, in other denominations.

GOD BLESSES UNITY

IT IS A VISION WORTH GOING FORTH.
Worth leaving everything and following the mission

POSSIBLE WITH JESUS TO TRANSFORM THIS NATION.
If we all united, so that the NAME OF JESUS BE HONOURED IN THIS SOCIETY.

Visions of Alpha:
- equip churches , every person in Canada will have the opportunity to explore Christianity and to discover Jesus Christ for themselves through an Alpha Course.

1 Staff Member for every 500 volunteers.

Can has the 2nd larges populations of Iranians outside of Iran.?

In Ontario there are 1000 Alpha courses going on.
It is almost the spiritual equvalent to Tim Hortons

3rd Vision is to reach the younger people, to reach more unchurched people, and to have more conversions.

I read once that vegetables grow larger in Canada and areas farther north like Alaska because the days are longer. Is this true in your area lenore?

I dont know, I dont live that far north.

I do know that the because of the shorter summer season that is 24 hours of sun light, is too short to grow much.

That is something to Internet Explore.

I did find this much:

62 lb. cabbage
35 lb. peas

Hopon:

That alot of coleslaw, or cabbage rolls that could be made out of all that cabbage.

But the size of peas is questionable.

In your research what kind of peas. Was it a pod, or just one pea.

Where was they grown, Northwest Terrorities, Yukon, or further North like in Alert.

Was it grown in a green house, or did the gardeners use an old mine shaft for a natural green house.

What kind of fertilizer did they use?

Would you mind enlightening us further with your research.

Pumpkins in this area can grow pretty big, in fact in the ByWard Market there is a contest to see who can grow the biggest pumpkin.
Some have to hauled in with a crane.
There have been pictures of pumpkins the size of a SUV. :o

P.S. Do you have an atlas? Check out where Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
Since I live 45 miles west of this city.
Then check out the location of that huge cabbage, would you tell me how many kilometers there are from one destination to the other. ;)

Thanks abunch for your research. ::)

Good Luck, and have a Great Day

:DJanuary 23rd, 2006:

Has anyone of you, been keeping track of our Canadian Politics.
As you may or may not we aware, that Canadian is voting today for our next Prime Minister.

Liberals with PM Paul Martin, with the liberal track record etc.

Conservates Stephen Harper, a real right wing conservate, believes in traditional definition of marriage, Pro lifer, and has Christian Values.

NDP Jack L....

Bloc Party from Quebec

Indepen., Green Party, etc.

People are fed up with the Liberal and their scandals and the mis management of billions of dollars. Since the last election brought in a liberal minority government.

People I been talking too is going two ways. A Conservate Majority Win, or a Conservate Minority Win, and the country will be going to the polls again by next year.

Any takers on your prediction before the polls close tonight.

Lenore

I don't know much abooot Canadian Politics. But let us know how the elections
turned out eh? I'm going to ask this question again because I believe the Canadians
should have an answer for this. Why is it that more than one goose is called geese,
but more than one moose is still moose? Why not meese? Let me know.

Thanks, Joe

Joe:

The election results:

Conservative with Stephen Harper 124

Liberal with Paul Martin 103

Bloc (Quebec Vote) 51

NDP with Jack Layton 27

Independent 1

We have a minority Conservative Government.

There will most likely be allegience between some of the parties to get some of the bills passed.
But it is most likely that Canadians will be going to the polls within about a year time again.

As for your question about geese/goose , moose
It is like foot, feet; tooth, teeth; mouse, mice etc.

The mystery of the English Language.

I have no idea why?

One of the proproganda that came out with the election campaign.
Is that your President Bush like our newly elected Conservate PM Stephen Harper.

What do you hear about this south of the border?

Lenore
