After reading this site (and many others) for several weeks, I've been led in a certain direction.

The first is that I really need to sit down and talk to some folks who've had real experience with The Assembly.  Face to face dialogue.  I am not interested in arguing, or debating, or "saving" anyone from anything  ;) but just hearing about the ins and outs, good and bad, pros and cons of Assembly life.

I'll buy the coffee, you provide the insight.  I'm asking this of all the St. Louis folks, especially those who are still in the organization.  What is reality as you see it re: this group?  What are the things you are not posting?  What is life like?  I'm not looking to write an expose, but just to understand.

Secondly, I am interested in whether or not the Assembly meetings are open to interested visitors.  NOT interested in joining, however, just interested in seeing what it's like.  If there have been changes made, there should be no problem with a visitor attending, right?  We're all brothers and sisters.  (No, I'm not willfully stupid.  That comment was rather pointed.)

So I ask you, who would be interested in meeting with me sometime?  Still in, or out, or whatever.  If you are uncomfortable posting here, e-mail me at realityfuel@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

Luke, that's a bummer!

Phil, Paul wants to come to my church.  No one's offered to take me to an Assembly meeting yet!    ;)

Michelle,

I am an X member. But I would love to meet with former and current members. I love all of them. How about an off meeting night. Like a Weds. Night at Denny's at 270 and McDonnell Blvd. I think that one is still open. Michelle buys coffee and I will buy the pie. VPG  If that Denny's is closed, someone pick a place around there.

I'd love to see Paul, Luke, Mark, Daniel and whoever else wants to come. Like a re-union.

My e-mail at home is VPG100@aol.com

Vince, that sounds great.  That Denny's is still open, and I'm right down the street!

Can we shoot for the 19th?  I'm up to my armpits in alligators until after the 14th, but I could probably squeeze some time in on the 12th.

p.s.   Edited to add to everyone on the board:

Let it be noted that I am -
1.  not trying to seduce "young fellows" in St. Louis (John Malone)
2.  not trying to attend a mtg in StL to a) join; b) infiltrate; c) "save"; d) "fix"; or e) condone this organization  (you know who you are)
3.  not on this board randomly or out of the blue

Any reports otherwise are slanderous. or libelous, whichever the case may be

p.p.s.  And as it now stands, I am no longer interested in attending a meeting.  Curiousity might just kill this cat, it seems.  Just posting on the board seems to be dangerous enough.

YOUR SISTER,   (isn't that enough?)
michelle

Dear Michelle

That sounds great.  Who is jumping on you for trying to "condone" an Assembly meeting?

Mr. Malone landed under the "condone" portion.  The other comments under (b) are from someone who shall remain nameless, but is a frequent lurker here.

Why I let either of them get under my skin is beyond me, honestly.  I think I was just waaaaaay too tired last night.

::smooches:: to all.

I can meet at the Denny's at 270 & McDonnell on Weds. nite at 7:00p.m. Feb 12th. Michelle said she can be there, I can be there. I sure hope some from the assembly come also. I would think they would from the sincerity of the posts from Luke, Mark, Daniel and Paul at least. Let me know. Thanks, VPG

I'm game for it sometime, but Wednesday's church night

Actually tomorrow we have a special guest playing -- James Taylor himself !!!!  (okay, not the same one, but a gospel sax player -- anybody interested??)

But I'd love to meet sometime.    I've written another brother and talked about a "reuinion" of all the exiled ones.

I joked about everyone who has ever been exiled ALL showing up some sunday for worship -- just really to put things to the test (how much have things REALLY changed???).

But ... we settled for a backsliders reunion.

Let's do it .. SOON !!!!  But not on wednesdays (since I 'have to' 'go to church')

Hey, Hooters has a great chicken sandwich!   ;)

Wednesday is not working out for me, folks.  I have my little kid every other Weds, this one being one of them, and I can't find a sitter.  Spin the wheel, pick again!  I'm still up for buying the coffee, but maybe next week instead...?
