During the 93 MTT in Lynwood Washington I noticed a letter writen by Mr. Rogers on the wall of the public library.  I copied down the address and wrote to him. Three weeks  laterI was overjoyed to receive a very personal responce from him.  He was very carefull to answer all my questions about childrens education and how to relate to them about God. Since then I've enjoyed corasponding with him many times.  He was always faithfull to write back.  During the past 5 years I have even had many of my students write to him.  He dfaithfully wrote back to all of them carefully answering each question and counsling them in their problems.  To me Fred Rogers was a true Christian.  He was a man full of love and compasion.  I will miss him terribly. :'( :'( :'(

He was a Presbyterian pastor correct?  I'm glad that there was a wholesome show like his on TV when I was a kid.  That's neat that you got to actually correspond with him.

I thought Mr. Rogers did a sensational job in flipping the coin in last years national championship football game.

Yes He was a minister, He was also the grand Marshall at this years Rose Parade.

Tom who or what is donkey jote?  Something from 'Howdey doody? (I'm probably thonly one on this board who knows about Howdy Doody)

I will miss Mr. Rogers.  He seemed like such a kind man, very gentle.  I wish more men could be like that! :(

I've read that book but don't see the connection?  Mr. Rogers is a foolish dreamer?  O.K. I'll buy that.

Ole Fred Rogers did alright.
He never did anything for me, but he sure used the abilities he was born with.

Mr. Rogers had a part of his show where a little trolley would go around a set and when it stopped the scene had moved to a make believe land where puppets and animals talked to human actors.   It was ruled by "King", and the not very bad villain was the "Duchess".   One of the characters was a talking donkey called "Donkey Jote".  The name is a takeoff on Cervante's character, Don Quixote.   It was pronounced "donkey hoetee".

Who is Howdy Doody?  I'm sure I don't know.  I never watched absurd children's programs on TV.  I also don't know who Buffalo Bob, Clarabelle the Clown, or Princess Summerspringwinterfall were.   I couldn't sing "It's Howdy Doody time, it's Howdy Doody time...    or could I?

Tom it encourages me that you know so much about Mr. Rogers, Yes I recall the Donkey but I didn't know his name.
I do know King Friday the XIII, Queen Sara, Prince Tuesday, X the owl, Lady Aberlin, Handyman Negri, Lady Elain Fairchild, Henrietta Pussycat , but thats all!

Maybe we should change the "Assembly BB" to "The Howdy-Doody Show"or "We Love Mr. Rogers BB"...People, people...get ahold of yourselves...What does Mr. Roger's Neighborhood have to do with George Geftakys, besides the obvious???
