You are so fortunate to be able to go through this process OUTSIDE of the assembly. The control that goes on in the engagement/marriage process is DISGUSTING! It is completely controlled by the leading brothers (mostly through their wives.)
I could go on and on with stories, but I would rather rejoice with Eulaha and put the past in the past and forget it. Suzie and I did this in 2001. It was excellent. I highly recommend that ex-assembly people do this, especially if they have had some significant changes in their thinking since leaving. The Lord was honored and all the saints at the church we attended rejoiced with us. In 1997 we celbrated our 30th anniversary by having a small ceremony in the chapel of the hospital where I worked. It was attended by close family and friends, who then went to dinner with us. It was a time of rejoicing for us. When is the big day for you? ???
