George's plagarisms

  I think most readers here know  that George plagarized GH Lang in his series on Revelation. Can anyone think of other things  that GG stole  from someone? I just  found an interesting book that has just been reprinted for Plymouth Brethren bookstores.  THE TORCH OF THE TESTIMONY by John W. Kennedy of India,  it was first printed in 1963 and was a very popular PB book on church  history. It is excellent and available at Searching Together, PO Box 377, 366 Bench st., Taylor Falls, MN.55084 $13
  This appears to be a ripoff that GG got away with for a long time.  Pretty shameless,

I have a paperback version of "The Holiest of All", written by Andrew Murray, the paperback version of which was published in 1996. It is an exposition of the book of Hebrews.

I bought this book after having missed a GG seminar, with, I believe, the same name. At the time, I thought myself fortunate at the thought of the "coincidence", and that I could now read the same info that I had missed by not attending the seminar. Little did I know that I would be reading the original "fresh-baked" seminar material without the GG twist.

Anyone else have a memory of that "half-baked" seminar?

In the late 70's I went into a bookstore in Van Nuys, CA.  I was just looking at the books on the shelves when I spotted a book with the same title as George's current Sunday afternoon series.  It was called, "The Histories and Prophecies of Daniel".  The author was, of course, G. H. Lang!

A brief examination showed me that the chapter titles were the same as the weekly messages GG was delivering.  The content was the same as well.

One thing was different though.  Now that I had been alerted to what GG was doing, I did not just accept his claims that "I got this message by spending 30 years upon my knees before an open Bible" at face value.

Amazingly,  did not immediately leave the cult, but remained under its influence for another 10 years!  Cultic methods of control are effective.

Part of the reason was that my understanding of the Church was that taught by Kennedy in "The Torch and the Testimony".  This is the standard Plymouth Brethren take on church history.  This sort of thinking divides the Body of Christ into the "Faithful Remnant", and the "Compromising Apostates".  In order to accomplish this the sins of the Brethren type churches are overlooked, and the heretical teachings of the ancient schismatics are de-emphasized.  An example of this is that the Albigenses are seen as sincere Christians instead of Manichians.  The historical basis for this claim is weak, to say the least.
