The real enemy against the U.S. and Israel is Islam.  If you want to awake from further deception check out the JTF.ORG website.

islam is a religious faith, not a living breathing entity, just like christianity. so the only actual enemy you can attack is a person who is muslim. the problem there is that people are complex, and attacking them is NEVER a black and white issue. i believe the desperation that drives suicide bombers originates from a primitive culture locked into a cycle of poverty, not in islam. look deeper.

a distaste for militancy and violence is a sign of maturity. this is true on a personal level, on a cultural level, and on a spiritual level. i hope that someday both islam and christianity will grow out of 'holy wars' and such. what do we do meanwhile? there are no easy answers here. whoever pretends there are is selling something.

Yes the Koran condones violence but so does the Old Test.  It all depends on what temple you attend. I have friends who are Muslim and they do not  condone violence.

Okay so if not Bin Laden, then who does represent Islam today? There are many in the Muslim world who agree with Osama Bin Laden.  Are the "innocent" Muslim charities that support terrorists really Muslim?  What is a "real" Muslim?  A "real" Christian has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ.  What has a real Muslim accepted?  Perhaps they have accepted a system of beliefs that prescribes the murder of those who disagree with them.  Perhaps Mohammed was also a "religious fanatic".  Maybe a real Muslim needs to be a religious fanatic.  Are those who are pleased with Bin Laden's activities, "real" Muslims (although they may never act the part of terrorist in the public view). Do we judge Bin Laden's beliefs according to the writings in the Quran?  Perhaps he may be a "real" Muslim after all.  I can easily identify what real Christian is, this is not open to any private interpretation.  But a "real" Muslim, I am not so sure.  Perhaps Bin Laden's interpretation of Islam is the "real" one, and others should actually be called Islam-Lite.  Who are you to say that his interpretation isn't the real one?  I am a Christian, there is nothing that Christ has said to do that I would not do. For me, Mohammed does not fall under this classification.  But perhaps Bin Laden's actions are dictated by Mohammed, just as mine are by Christ.  I can not say that I am exactly fond of anyone who is what I consider to be a "real" Muslim (BTW, I am not too fond of Bin Laden).

It is really sad to see what one fanatic can do to a large group of people (you decide if I am talking about Mohammed or Bin Laden). Smiley

My take on the Muslim religion,- A strict set of laws, legalism used to controle and maintain the patriarcle culture. Much of this world feels very intimidated by Western civilization.   Our Western culture teaches their children to put aside traditions and pursue the almighty dollar!  Sound familiar?  More later

If someone's tradition is to kill the "infidels", I would have no problem if they put aside this tradition. I have no problem putting aside the things that are wrong, and holding on to the things that are right without respect to "tradition".  Nope, this does not sound totally familiar to me, who taught you to pursue the almighty dollar?  When I grew up, we were taught that we should contribute to society, the dollar was just a way of representing the value that we provided.  The dollar was not what was real, it merely represent the work that we did.  The work is what was real.  Perhaps the times are changing. NO BRIAN,
Islam is not just like Christianity.  Christianity is not a religious faith.  It is relationship to Jesus Christ, the only Son of the only true God, YHWH.  (Now, it may be that various sects that are nominally "christian" may be religious "faiths".)

Islam is the following of Allah, for whom Mohammed was the Prophet.  Make no mistake, this "Allah" is not Jehovah (YHWH) God but one of the gods of the Arab people (Ishmaelites) in the days of Mohammed.  This god happened to be the principal god worshipped by Mohammed's family.  Mohammed and his ilk were obviously successful in making Allah pre-eminent in Arabia.  From there, Islam was spread throughout the Middle East, etc. by fierce armies using violent coersion (threat of beheading, etc.)  This is the history of Islam.  This is condoned by the Koran.

This coercion M-O of the Muslims may have been, to some degree, used by some "christian" sects (Roman Catholic, etc.) but is in no way supported by Scripture.  In the Old Testament, Israel was commanded to kill those who had polluted the land promised to Abraham.  This was never to be a way to coerce conversion but rather to bring an end to demonic defilement.  Conversion, either to Judaism or Christianity, must always be a response of faith in the ones being converted.

"To open their eyes, [and] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me." Acts 26:18
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:" Eph 2:8

For the Muslim, holy war (Jihad) is physical elimination of the "infidel" (esp. Jews & Christians).  For the Christian, holy war is a spiritual battle that constantly rages, but on our part, never includes physical intimidation of another but rather is engaged in by living a life faithful to Christ in prayer and preaching of the gospel to the lost.

Both Brent and Fighter are correct to recognize Islam as a/the stated enemy of true Christian believers and Jews.  Have you heard the pronouncements of many Muslim clerics against Israel, the US and Christianity?

PS, Brian - I did not realize how far you were from biblical faith.  I will pray that you return to your former profession and receive the grace of God so that you may find Christ as the only basis for faith.

Tim,
You are absolutely right on in your explanation of Islam!

If you study Islam, there is only one conclusion you can come to and that is:  Muhammad is a false prophet.   He is a terrorist, pedaphile (married a 6 year old), incest - took his adopted son's wife, and wants to kill all infidels.  Infidels are Christians and Jews.  He is illiterate.  He robs. He is a murderer.  He tells his martyrs that they will get 70 virgins in heaven.  This guy is a nut!  How can such a mad man lead people to the true God - Yahweh?

The problem the U.S. and Israel is facing is Islam.  There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world.  Only 75% of Muslims know what they are suppose to believe in and this is a good thing.  We are currently seeing the 25% of indoctrinated Muslims act out and they HATE Christians and Jews.  Muslims are victims of Islam!   Muslims in most countries are Muslims because not being one would mean death for them.  I am not against Muslims.  Muslims need to be liberated from Islam.  Muslims need Jesus!
