There are so many.  It is difficult to pick one, but here are a few:

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r thro'out the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty montain grandeur,
And hear the brook and feel the gently breeze.

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art.

Heaven Came Down

O what a wonderful wonderful day,
Day I will never forget;
After I wandered in darkness away,
Jesus my savior I met.
O what a tender, compassionate friend
He met the need of my heart;
Shadows dispelling, with joy I am telling,
He made all the darkness depart

Heaven came down and glory filled my soul,
When at the cross the Saviour made me whole;
My sins were washed away
and my night was turned to day -
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul

Born of the Spirit with life from above
into God's family divine,
Justified fully thru Calvary's love,
O what a standing is mine!
And the transaction so quickly was made,
when as a sinner I came,
Took of the offer, of grace He did proffer,
He saved me, O praise His dear name!

Now I've a hope that will surely endure
after the passing of time;
I have a future in heaven for sure,
there in those mansions sublime.
And it's because of that wonderful day,
when at the cross I believed;
Riches eternal and blessings supernal,
from His precious hand I received.

Higher Ground

I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining ev'ry day -
Still praying as I'm onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground".

Lord, lift me up and let me stand
By faith on heaven's tableland;
A higher plane than I have found
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Tho some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

I want to live above the world,
Tho Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray till heav'n I've found,
"Lord, lead me on to higher ground."

These are a few of my favourite hymns.
If you forgive me, Can interject this question:
WHAT ARE YOU FAVOURITE HYMNS OR WORSHIP CHORUS DO YOU LIKE NOW?

After teaching Pioneer Club for 9 years. Alot of the songs I sang were :
THY WORD.
Thy word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path.
When I feel afraid, Think I've lost my way, Still you're right beside me.  And nothing will I fear, As long as You are near, Please be near me to the en.
Thy word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path. Thy word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Written by Amy Grant.
and Michael w. Smith.

Vaccuums and scissors and flowbees be Thine.

My own special corruption of "Blessings and Honor and Glory be Thine" from the early 90's, during the era when you could not get away from the flowbee informercials if you turned on a TV set.

     I have never been a morning person.  It takes me a long time to feel ready to face the day.  Several vigorous physical activities must preceed any attempt at a "morning time," or you'll find me asleep & drooling into my Bible.  The demands of the assembly-paced lifestyle only exacerbated the condition...
     That wonderful old song that begins "When morning gilds the skies, My heart awaking cries,"  was always followed (in my mind) by the single word, "AAARRRGGHHH!!!!!"  Embarrassed

 :)JUNE 15: 10:30 PM:

SHARING A HYMN WITH YOU TONIGHT:

REACH OUT TO JESUS:
By Ralph Carmichael

VS: 1
Is you burden heavey as you bear it all alone?
Does the road you travel harbour danger yet unknown?
Are you growing weary in the struggle of it all?
Jesus will help you when on His name you call.

VS: 2
Is the life you're living filled with sorrow and despair?
Does the future press you with its worry and its care?
Are you tired and friendless, have you almost lost your way?
Jesus will help you, just come to Him today.

CHORUS:
He is always there, hearing every prayer, faithful and true.
Walking by our side, in His love we hide all the day through.
When you get discouraged, just remember what to do-
Reach out to Jesus, He's reaching out to you.

The last line of the chorus is such a promise:
REACH OUT TO JESUS, HE'S REACHING OUT TO YOU.

Jesus, Thy Blood and Righteousness

An oldie but goodie written in 1739 by Nikolaus von Zinzendorf, a Moravian missionary who harbored persecuted Christians at his German estate, 28 years after anabaptist ancestors of mine were banished from Switzerland with only the clothes on their backs.

Jesus, Thy blood and righteousness,
My beauty are, my glorious dress.
Midst flaming worlds in these arrayed
With joy shall I lift up my head.

Bold shall I stand in Thy great day,
For who aught to my charge shall lay?
Fully absolved through these I am,
From sin and fear, from guilt and shame.

The holy, meek, unspotted Lamb,
Who from the Father's bosom came,
Who died for me, e'en me to atone,
Now for my Lord and God I own.

Lord, I believe Thy precious blood,
Which at the mercy seat of God,
Forever doth for sinners plead,
For me, e'en for my soul, was shed.

Lord, I believe were sinners more
Than sands upon the ocean shore,
Thou hast for all a ransom paid,
For all a full atonement made.

When from the dust of death I rise
To claim my mansion in the skies,
Ev'n then this shall be all my plea,
Jesus hath lived, hath died, for me.

Jesus, the endless praise to Thee,
Whose boundless mercy hath for me--
For me a full atonement made,
An everlasting ransom paid.

O let the dead now hear Thy voice;
Now bid Thy banished ones rejoice;
Their beauty this, their glorious dress,
Jesus, Thy blood and righteousness.

I am not a morning person either. I don't really enjoy going to work in the morning. Last semester, I taught an intro to creative writing course at SDSU at 10:00 am and I woke up much earlier than that to prepare. That was brutal and I had a serious Starbucks addiction as a result (I have recently detoxed from it by ordering coffee not as often, and when I do, ordering it from the local independent shop, which is very good. http://www.twiggs.org/ ).

I have always stayed up too late, even in the Assembly. I averaged 4-6, with 4 being the average for Sat night. I exaggerate but who had time for sleep in the Assembly?

Hi Shin,

     Good to hear from you.  Your point just illustrates how perfect the assembly system was planned out:  After running us ragged through endless days & nights of work, faimily concerns, stewardships & meetings, they provided us with an all-night-of-prayer, at which we could catch up on our sleep!  Shocked Roll Eyes Grin

 Cheesy: JULY 25TH AT 11:54 PM EST

One of the Hymns that was sung during the Sunday Evening Services

FOLLOW ON

by: William O.Cushing
Robert Lowry

CHORUS:
  Follow! follow! I would follow Jesus! Anywhere, everywhere, I would follow on!
Follow!follow! I would follow Jesus! Everywhere He leads me, I would follow on.

VERSE 1:
 Down in the valley with my Saviour I would go,
Where the flowers are blooming and the sweet waters flow;
Everywhere he leads me I would follow, follow on,
Walking in His Footsteps till the crown be won.

VERSE 2:
Down in the valley with my Saviour I would go,
Where the storms are sweeping and the dark waters flow;
With His hand to lead me. I will never, never fear,
Danger cannot fright me if my Lord is near.

VERSE 3:
Down in the valley or upon the mountain steep,
Close beside my Saviour would my soul ever keep;
He will lead me safely in the path that he has trod,
Up to where they gather on the hills of God.

 Cheesy: AUGUST 15 AT 11:39 PM ARNPRIOR, ONTARIO TIME.

HYMN : JUST AS I AM , WITHOUT ONE PLEA

Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy Blood was shed for me,
And thay Thou bidd'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my sould of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come! I Come!

Just as I am, though tossed about,
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fighting and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come! I Come

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Slight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yes, all I need, in Thee I find,
O Lamb of God, I come! I Come!

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve.
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come! I Come!

O Lamb of God, I come.  Amen

Author: Robert Robinson
Adapt: E. Margaret Clarkson
Tranditional Americal melody
John Wyeth's Repository of Sacred Music, 1813.

Verse: 1
Come Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy praise
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Tech me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise his name I'm fixed up it
Name of God's redeeming love

Verse 2:
Hitherto Thy love has blest me

Safely home by Thy good grace
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Bought me with His precious blood

Verse 3:
O to grace how great a d ebtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O take and seal it;
Seal it for they courts above.                 AMEN

 :DHAPPY LORD'S DAY OF SEPTEMBER 26TH

This hymn was sung at the morning service. It was new to me.

TITLE: MAKE ME A CAPTIVE LORD
Authors: George Matheson
              Donald P. Hustad
Copyright in 1953 Hope Publishing Co.

Verse 1:
Make me a captive, Lord.
I shall be free;
Force me to render up my sword,
And I shall conqueror be;
I sink in life's alarms
When by myself I stand;
Imprison me within Thine arms,
And strong shall be my hand.

Verse 2:
My heart is weak and poor
Until it master find;
It has no spring of action sure,
It varies with the wind;
It cannot freely move
Till Tou has wrought its chain;
Enslave it with Thy matchless love
And deathless it shall reign.

Verse 3
My pow'r is faint and low
Till I have learned to serve;
It wants the needed fire to glow,
It wants the breeze to nerve;
It cannot drive the world
Until itself be driv'n;
Its flag can only be unfurled
When Thou shalt breathe from heav'n.

Verse 4
My will is not my own
Till Thou hast made it Thine;
If it would reach the monarch's throne
It must its crown resign;
It only stands unbent,
Amid the clashing strife,
When on Thy bosom it has leaned,
And found in Thee its life.

Today is Melany Miners' birthday, in honor of which I am reposting this wonderful hymn which she posted a long time ago:

I know not what awaits me, God kindly veils my eyes
And o'er each step of my onward way
He makes new scenes to rise
And every joy He sends me comes
A sweet and glad surprise.

Oh blissful lack of wisdom, 'Tis blessed not to know
He holds me with His own right hand
And will not let me go.
And lulls my troubled soul to rest
In Him who loves me so.

One step I see before me, 'Tis all I need to see
The light of heaven more brightly shines
When earth's illusions flee.
And sweetly through the silence comes
His loving "Follow Me!"

So on I go not knowing, I would not if I might
I'd rather walk in the dark with God
Than go alone in the light
I'd rather walk by faith in Him, than go alone by sight.

Where He may lead, I'll follow
My trust in Him repose.
And every hour in perfect peace
I'll sing:  "He knows, He knows"
And every hour in perfect peace
I'll sing:  "He knows, He knows".

Happy birthday, Melany, and many more until our Lord returns.

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my days and all my hours;

Verse 2

Let my eyes, see Jesus only,
Let my lips speak forth His praise.

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
Let my lips speak forth His praise;
All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
Let my lips speak forth His praise.

Verse 3

Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus.
I've lost sight of all besides;
So enchained my spirit's vision,
Looking at the Crucified.

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
Looking at the Crucified.
All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
Looking at the Crucified.

Verse 4

Oh, what wonder! How amazing!
Jesus, glorious King of kings,
Deigns to call me His beloved,
Lets me rest beneath His wings.

Resting now beneath His wings;

February 18th

THE TOUCH OF HIS HAND ON MINE
Author: Jessie B Pounds  & Henry P Morton.

CHORUS:
OH, THE TOUCH OF HIS HAND ON MINE
OH, THE TOUCH OF HIS HAND ON MINE!
THERE IS GRACE AND POW'R IN THE TRYING HOUR,
IN THE TOUCH OF HIS HAND ON MINE

Verse 1:
There are days so dark that I seek in vain,
For the face of my Friend divine,
But tho' darkness hide,
He is there to guide
By the touch of His hand on mine

Verse 2
There are times, when tired of the toilsome road
That for ways of the world I pine,
But He draws me back to the upward track
By the touch of His hand on mine

Verse 3
When the way is dim, and I cannot see,
Thro' the mist of His wise design,
How my glad heart yearns,
and my faith returns
By the touch of His hand on mine

Verse 4
In the last sad hour, as I stand alone,
Where the powers of death combine
While the dark waves roll
He will guide my soul
By the touch of His hand on mine.
