who searched George's house?
did he/she do so illegally?

The "search" was not a search, it was someone getting their property back, and it was not illegal.

Christians do not steal, trespass, or lie in wait to deceive.  The person who removed their property from George's house is a Christian.

The same cannot be said about the homoeowner, perhaps?
