Some of you may not know this, but Mary Jean Schout was my sister. I know she touched many lives in SLO and in the Midwest. I'd like to hear from those who knew her. My family would appreciate the input. What are your fondest memories of her, etc.?
Looking forward to your posts,
Jack

(not sure if our other post went through)
from Aaron Cantrell-- Mary Jean was kind and hospitable. She felt comfortable chatting with men & women. She wasn't fake. She liked to get to know others. She was a great woman.
from Tanya Cantrell--My favorite memory of Mary Jean is that of a conversation we had 5 years ago, a few months before she died. She & baby David were in SLO for Rob & Linda's wedding. We were tying silverware rolls together at my apt. After our babies were down for their naps, we were chatting & there was a point in the conversation where she put her silverware roll down & paused. She looked over at her sleeping little one & quietly said, "I love being a mom. Don't you love it? I can't wait to have another baby." She said it with those sweet Mary Jean dimples & joyful glimmer in her eye. She had become a mom a little later than some and she was just so happy and thankful. I am also happy we will see her again, face to face in the Glory.

Mary Jean took me through the "Anchors". She went out of her way to make me feel welcome not only in the Assembly, but in her home. She picked me up for meetings, had me over for Sunday breakfast every week, took me on drives, and prayed with me. I miss her very much.

I don't remember the year Jack but it was when Raiders of the Lost Ark came out and was playing in SLO. I think it was Christine L, Mary Jean and I went out to watch it. The movie started at 7pm on a Saturday night. We all sat there watching it and talking. It was so good that we stayed and watched it a second time. The proposal before staying was that if we did we would go to worship on Sunday. I didn't get home until after midnight and was there promptly the next morning. We all winked at each other as if sharing a stolen moment.
Other memories? Going for frozen yoghurt, singing hymns in the car while she drove us to the beach, her beautiful hair and those dimples, her laugh.

My fondest memory of MaryJean was when she came to SLO to visit a couple of months after she had her son, David. She was staying at the Geftakys', and she invited me over one day for lunch. We had such a great time together!
Talking with MaryJean was like a breath of fresh air. She was one of the most genuine people I have ever known...She really cared about people, and her kind, gentle spirit was so beautiful!
I also remember one time she came to pick me up and we went to the beach, and we talked for hours as we walked along the shore. She was always so interested in me and what I had to say.....what a gem of a person!!!!
