The are some really good articles over at the
www.geftakysassembly.com website. Go there
and click on "What's new?"  One good thread
there defines several groups---click on the hyperlink
"categorizes" and you will see that Wellspring has listed the Assemblies under TACO(Totally Aberrant
Christian Organization). Another good hyperlink there
is "the myth" which shows that many people believe that individuals involved in these groups, once they leave, should heal quickly simply by joining a good church--but in fact it is shown that far more is needed to truly heal.

There is a person who posts regularly on another BB who truly believes that all "Assembly abuse" mentioned is either non-existent, or "blown out of proportion". There are many people who really don't understand just how far the psychological and emotional damage went in the members who journeyed through the Assembly system for years.

There are several articles there dealing with the damage that was done and the healing that needs to be sought by those affected. It is well worth the read.

I agree.  The material on the website is top notch.  I read everything, and have been really helped by much of it, especially the new stuff.

Totalist Aberrant Christian Organization.  (Not Totally Aberrant) Smiley

It referrs to the totalitarian organization structure, and doesn't mean that everything possible was doctrinally wrong.

http://www.skepticfiles.org/xhate/ch-cultd.htm for a very out-of-context description of a Totalist group.  It is amazing to see how many of these the assemblies fit.

David---

Thanks for the correction. I guess I was being
a bit biased, wasn't I? Cheesy

I was confusing it with BURRITO(Biblically Unsound
Religiously Regimented Idealistic Totalitarian Organization)

Don't feel bad, at first not only did I get confused over "totalist", but in addition I thought that it was "abhorrent" instead of "aberrant". Embarrassed Smiley Embarrassed
