Canada is a great place to live. But no place on this planet is perfect. I am Conservative/Republican to you because they represent more of the values of Christianity than Liberals/Democrats. Canada has elected more Liberal governments than Conservative since Confederation in 1867. We love American movies, TV, food, cars and aspire to most American fads. We have close ties with many Americans one on one and have many family members living there through jobs or marriage or both. Canadians learn American history in school and Canadian history. They are the most Internet savy people on the planet and have given the US the most comedians. Our contibution to the Space program in NASA is extensive and also to the Concorde in Europe. Our newest satelite Anik F will bring High Speed Internet to all of North America.
Spiritually Canadians are more European than American and look suspiciously at Evangelicals as being demonstrative hypocrites. Many are High Church Catholic or Anglican and see the traditions of these faiths as more enduring and important.
In the world order Canada is fast becoming an observer. We used to be in the forefront and were one of the largest navies in WWII. The D Day contribution was a major one in shortening the War.
On 9/11 we mourned the loss of so many innocent victims in New York, Pensylvania and Washington DC. When the skies were shut down most of the planes still in the air landed in Canada and the people were kept in some cases in private homes.
We are grateful for the Word of God coming from America but the majority of Canadians have never seen a need to fight for anything and don't remember the Depression or WWI or WWII. We see the American people with two sets of glasses. Sometimes as gracious hosts and sometimes agressive people strutting the World scene. I for one see Americans as ordinary people like Canadians who believe what they are told and follow that role set out for them by leaders or media or both. Moore is a good example of the media turning partial truth around and duping millions to believe a fabrication of the truth. If anything can be said of North Americans it is that we don't exercise our freedoms like our forefathers did. We are lazy about seeking the truth and settle for what sounds good.
Anyway Canadians like Americans cannot be lumped together. We are individuals and you will find when meeting one on one it is a different story. We are your friends albeit not willing to accept or do everything you want but still friends.
